(We do not collect these names or emails!)Photojournalists who travel into warzones are some of the most fearless people in their profession. By throwing out any regard for safety, these photographers have sometimes sacrificed their life for the name of a good shot. "The Bang Bang Club" tells the true story of some of the most famous war photographers, and the compelling new release DVD hits shelves August 16.
The movie follows four photojournalists including Kevin Carter (Taylor Kitsch), Greg Marinovich (Ryan Phillippe), Ken Oosterbroek (Frank Rautenbach) and Joao Silva (Neels Van Jaarsveld) as they make their way into South Africa at the height of apartheid. The story traces their experiences in the violent days leading up to the country's first democratic election in 1994.
The film raises a number of questions through its presentation of the the club's plight. The biggest of them all, is how much photojournalists should be involved in the lives of their subjects. Are they responsible for stepping in and helping or to simply capturing the story?
