'Mars Needs Moms' teaches kids a valuable lesson

Movies have been making stunning advancements in visuals over the last decade, and nowhere was that on display more than in the 2011 computer-animated family movie "Mars Needs Moms." The beautiful-created new released DVD hits shelves August 9. As is the case with most kids, Milo (Seth Dusky) feels like his mother (Joan Cusack) is ruining his summer vacation. He just wants to go outside and play, but she is burdening him with bothersome chores. His wish to never have a mom comes true one night when she is abducted by Martians, and Milo realizes what he's lost. To save his mom from being used to raise Martian youngsters, Milo stows away on their spaceship and goes back to the Red Planet. It certainly will not be easy to get his mother back, but the ordeal will likely make him think twice about wishing that she was never there. Like most animated movies, "Mars Needs Moms" teaches a valuable lesson.
