'Rio' a colorful and vibrant movie for the whole family

Print this article Over the last decade, animated movies have become some of the most widely-acclaimed films in the industry. That doesn't change with the bright and vibrant family movie "Rio." The hilarious new release DVD hits shelves August 2.
Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) is a a Spix Macaw who has been abducted from his home in Rio de Janiero, Brazil, and sold to a woman in suburban Minnesota. Blu spends time in his owner Linda's bookshop, until an ornithologist comes in one day and says he needs to return to Rio to pr eserve the species.
Once inside an aviary, Blu meets another macaw named Jewel (Anne Hathway) and the two decide to escape into the wild. After doing so, the duo are pursued by a pair of smugglers as well as Linda and the ornithologist. With the help of some friendly creatures, hope to realize their feelings for each other and avoid capture .
Families looking to check out similar animated titles may want to watch "Toy Story 3," which earned an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, and "Wall-E."
