Production moves forward on 'Evil Dead' remake

The 1981 horror movie "The Evil Dead" has become one of the most classic cult movies of all time in the last 30 years, and now it is set to be remade with many of same parts intact. Deadline reports that director Sam Raimi, along with star Bruce Campbell, are on board for the project. The script was written by Fede Alvarez (who will also direct) and is being revised by Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody. Raimi, Campbell and Rob Tapert will serve as producers for the film, and the trio recently spoke about the prospects of remaking such an iconic film. "We are committed to making this movie and are inspired by the enduring popularity and enthusiasm for the 'Evil Dead' series," they said in a press release. "We can't wait to scare a new generation of moviegoers using film making techniques that were not available to us 30 years ago as well as Fede bringing a fresh eye to the film's original elements." Raimi has made a habit of creating some of the most popular movies over the last three decades including "Spider-Man" and the campy "Drag Me to Hell."
