Trio of 'Glee' stars done after third season, show creator says

Despite being the three stars on the hit Fox musical "Glee," Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer will not be returning to the show after its third season, creator Ryan Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter. The trio is set to graduate from fictional William McKinley High School at the end of the season, and Murphy said he wouldn't want to keep them around after it makes no sense to do so. The move to graduate the three, as well as the other seniors, has sat well with the show's new writers. "You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year," Murphy told the news provider. Though they may leave the show after this year, fans can re-watch their favorite episodes thanks to TV on DVD. Viewers may also want to check out similar high school dramas including "Friday Night Lights" and "The O.C."
