'Beastly' gives classic fairy tale a modern update

Everybody knows the classic tale of "Beauty and the Beast," but what if the well-known story got a modern twist? That's exactly what happened with the romantic fantasy movie "Beastly," which explores the same theme of finding the beauty within. The new release DVD comes to stores June 28. Kyle Kingston (Alex Pettyfer) is a wealthy and arrogant high school student who has everything going for him. However, when he picks on an eccentric classmate (Mary-Kate Olsen), he is transformed into a bald, ugly version of himself and must find someone who loves him for more than just his looks to break the spell. Kyle falls for Lindy Taylor (Vanessa Hudgens), a girl who he used to pick on. But he faces an uphill battle at winning her over and returning to his once-handsome self. "Beastly" is based on a novel by the same name, something which often makes for great films. Movie watchers may want to check out similar adaptations including "No Country for Old Men" and "Never Let Me Go."
