Print this article There are not many actors out there more versatile than Hugh Jackman, and it looks like the “X-Men” star is set to tackle a classic. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jackman is in talks to star in the film adaptation of the musical version of “Les Miserables.”
The part of Jean Valjean would not be a stretch for Jackman, who has his acting roots firmly planted in musical theater. Jackman recently surprised the Tony's audience when he performed with an elaborate song and dance routine with Neil Patrick Harris, and one of his first major movie roles was when he starred in the 1999 film version of “Oklahoma!”
Few other details have emerged about the project, except that it is to be directed by Tom Hooper, who won an Academy Award earlier this year for directing Best Picture winner “The King’s Speech.”
Musicals have given movie audiences some of the best films of all time including classics like “West Side Story” and “Grease” as well as contemporary titles such as “Chicago” and “Moulin Rouge!”
