Laurence Fishburne will not return to 'CSI: Las Vegas'

After less than three seasons, Laurence Fishburne is out as the lead in the CBS drama series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources have confirmed that the Emmy-winning actor has chosen not to renew his contract after the recent season finale - the lowest rated in the shows run. The show originally starred William Petersen as Dr. Gilbert Grissom, but he left after the ninth season and was replaced by Fishburne. Ever since Petersen left the show, the series, which was once among the most-watched on TV, has suffered a declining viewership. The news source reports that due to the declining interest, CBS recently announced it would be moving the show from its usual Thursday night spot back to Wednesday nights at 10 p.m., and there is no word on who will replace Fishburne. Fans of the popular drama may want to re-watch some classic "CSI" episodes on DVD.
