Supernatural horror movies always have a way of creating an especially scary blend of terror. The unknown is a powerful force, and that is especially true when it comes to devilish tales. Audiences are pushed to the limits in "The Rite," which explores the inner-workings of the life of an exorcist. This unnerving movie comes to DVD May 17.

The film follows the path of Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue) as he navigates his way through the months after his trip through seminary school. Wholly anticipating to resign from priesthood, several men of the cloth attempt to change Michael's mind when he seems to be a natural for the profession. In order to test his commitment, the father superior sends him to Rome to take a class on exorcism.

While he's there he meet Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins), an exorcist who attempts to cure his skepticism. When the strange events begin to pile up, it becomes more apparent who, or what, exactly, Michael is dealing with.

Much like "The Exorcist," this movie examines the strange world of the preternatural. Anybody looking for a good scare may want to pick up "Paranormal Activity" or "The Ring" as well.
