'Twisted Metal' slated to be released on PlayStation 3

Longtime video gamers are likely very familiar with the "Twisted Metal" series. One of the original PlayStation games, the story of murderous cars and their odd drivers has become a classic throughout the years. The franchise is about to get a reboot, as Sony confirmed that its releasing an updated version of the game for the PlayStation 3 this October 4. However, IGN.com reports that it was not always certain that the full-length title would get made. Although it was originally intended for downloading purposes only, its popularity soon led Sony to request that creator David Jaffe envision something bigger. "We think Twisted Metal is really cool and fun," he told the website. "We know we have an audience out there but we don't know how big that audience is. Whenever you make a game it's a huge investment of money and time, and you have to make something that you are passionate about." Although there are few titles like "Twisted Metal," car-based PlayStation 3 games have been a long-standing favorite among gamers.
