Although Christopher Nolan filmed both "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" primarily in Chicago, it appears as though he's mixing things up the third time around. The acclaimed director recently announced that "The Dark Knight Rises" will be shooting in Pittsburgh when production kicks off in May, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Nolan met with Pittsburgh mayor Luke Revenstal to discuss the project, and said that he quickly knew that the city was the right choice. The "Inception" director praised the "beautiful" city and expressed his excitement to be shooting there throughout the coming summer. It looks as though the feeling is mutual, as director of the Pittsburgh Film Office, Dawn Keezer, shared a similar sentiment.

"A franchise as prestigious as Batman opens our region up to an entirely new audience as filmmakers and studio executives experience Southwestern Pennsylvania," she told the news source.

The movie, which is set for a July 2012 release, will be the final film in the popular series. It will also bring back much of the cast from the original two superhero movies including Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine.
