Print this article Though his haunting score made "Black Swan" a contender for Best Picture at this year's Academy Awards, composer Clint Mansell has something different in the works - video games. The English musician told The Quietus that he is creating the music for the upcoming release of "Mass Effect 3."
In the past, Mansell has worked closely with "Black Swan" director Darren Aronofsky, also providing the score for his critically acclaimed films "The Wrestler" and "Requiem for a Dream." However, this time around he was hoping to take things in a different direction.
"You've got all these different elements that change depending on what the player does," he told the publication. "You have to figure out an overall symphony, but be able to break it down into component parts. You can bring the pain when required."
The "Mass Effect" franchise has been one of the most well-received games in recent years. With a sci-fi storyline the game would likely appeal to fans of both "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II" and "Halo 2."
