(We do not collect these names or emails!)The epic "Lord of the Rings" trilogy that captivated moviegoing audiences created a sprawling landscape that seemed to capture everything author J.R.R. Tolkein imagined. However, there were places in Middle Earth that went unexplored in the film, and game developers at Snowblind Studios have gone into uncharted territory with the "The Lord of the Rings: War in the North."
The creators recently gave audiences a sneak peak at the title that includes a preview of some of the gameplay features. The trailer gives a glimpse into the development process and depicts a dark and violent take on the landscape of Middle Earth.
While the creators of other similar titles, such as "The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King," have had movies to base their levels around, this time developers had to generate their own conceptions of what Tolkein had in mind. Perhaps the most anticipated area is Carn Dûm - better known as where the Witch King of Angmar resides.
"It's a huge metal citadel and the game play in that is just amazing," Art Director Phillip Straub said in the trailer.
The game is expected to come out May 22, 2011 and will certainly appeal to fans of games such as "Darksiders" and "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow."
