(We do not collect these names or emails!)Liam Neeson seems to have enjoyed a career resurgence as of late, and that trend continued this weekend. The 58-year-old Irishman's latest film "Unknown" opened in first place, taking in an estimated $21.8 million to beat the sci-fi thriller "I Am Number Four," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, which bares a resemblance to his surprise 2008 hit "Taken," stars Neeson as Dr. Martin Harris who awakens from a car accident to find that nobody remembers who he is, and a man has stolen his identity. He then has to travel through the streets of Berlin to discover what has happened to his life. The movie features supporting performances from "Mad Men's" January Jones and "Inglorious Basterds" star Dianne Kruger.
"I'm happy for [financier] Joel [Silver] to have a breakout film," Warner Brother's president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman told the website. "Dark Castle has struggled at the box office the past couple of years, and this helps turns things around."
Those who love Neeson's grittier roles were likely enjoy similar titles such as "The Bourne Identity" and "Syriana."
