Natalie Portman may have had to channel her darker side in order to play the quiet, disturbed Nina in "Black Swan," but it appears as though she was able to take it easy with her follow-up project, the lighthearted "No Strings Attached."

Believe it or not, the romantic-comedy, which will be released in theaters this Friday, was Portman's first foray into the genre.

"I've always wanted to do one," she told Entertainment Weekly. "But the girls are always in fashion, and it's always about their clothes. They always want to get married at the end. There's some kind of makeover scene. That stuff offends me."

While Portman may not have too many rom-coms under her belt, she has certainly lent her talents to a number of romantic dramas. The films "Garden State" and "Where the Heart Is" both showcase her sensitive acting chops.

Portman will be appearing next in "Your Highness," a comedy also starring Danny McBride and James Franco.
