Print this article Sigourney Weaver has made her mark on cinema over the past few years, and it looks as though she shows no sign of slowing down. Aside from recently starring in the highest-grossing film of all time, "Avatar," in 2009 she took the time to lend her talents to an original Lifetime movie.
"Prayers for Bobby" tells the true story of Mary Griffith, a woman who struggled with her son's homosexuality only to later become a champion for gay rights after he committed suicide. Weaver said the role affected her greatly, and offered kind words to teens currently going through difficult moments with their family.
"I would say 'I love you' and 'I'm so sorry this is so painful,'" she told the news outlet. "But you have to be you, glorious you, and it's going to be tough for awhile. But in the end there's only one you."
Weaver garnered both an Emmy and Golden Globe Award nomination for her performance in the gripping drama.
