Print this article Hollywood lost an esteemed actor this past weekend. Leslie Nielsen, best known for starring in "The Naked Gun" films, passed away at the age of 84. Reports are circulating that the performer succumbed to complications from pneumonia.
Nielsen's nephew, Doug, spoke with Canadian radio station CJOB and explained that the actor's passing was a peaceful one.
"He just fell asleep and passed away,' he told the news source."He was truly a nice man. A very caring, naturally funny guy in day-to-day life, not just because someone wrote something on paper for him."
While Nielsen appeared in countless projects throughout his career, he was cherished for his performances in "The Naked Gun" trilogy as well as the classic comedy "Airplane."
Not so surprisingly, it looks as though he was beloved by those closest to him.
"He was a very tender-hearted man. He was one of my best friends and I loved him dearly. I'll miss him greatly," his nephew told the news outlet.
Nielsen is survived by his two daughters, Maura and Thea, and his fourth wife, Barbara Lee Nielsen.
