Print this article Are Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg the next big on-screen duo? Judging by the box office results this past weekend, it may appear so.
The actors' recent comedy, "The Other Guys," grossed $35.6 million in ticket sales this past weekend and is the first to knock the widely-acclaimed action thriller "Inception" from the top slot, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Coming in second place was Christopher Nolan's mind-bending drama, with $18.6 million. The total gross for "Inception" now totals $228 million, after just one month in theaters.
In a somewhat disappointing turnout, "Step Up 3D" came in third place with $15 million. The third installment of the franchise has fared the poorest so far, as "Step Up" earned more than $65 million and "Step Up 2: The Streets" grossed more than $58 million domestically, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.
Nolan, who is also known for helming "The Dark Knight" and "Memento," is currently working on an untitled Batman Project.
