Aaron Johnson gets his geek on in "Kick-Ass"

Superhero films are all the rage right now, so it's no surprise "Kick-Ass" charmed both moviegoers and critics upon its release. The film will be available for purchase on DVD August 3. The film centers on Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a nerdy high school kid who adores comic books. After deciding he wants to become a superhero, Dave dresses up in an appropriate costume and heads out to help those in need. When a video of him saving someone goes viral, Dave becomes an internet superstar. It isn't long before he inspires others to take up superhero careers and is joined by a rag-tag group of crime-fighters. "Kick-Ass" has a number of esteemed actors in its cast. In fact, it stars Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who first wooed audiences with his performance in "Superbad," as well as Nicolas Cage, who recently appeared in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." Johnson is also an actor on the rise. The young performer recently played the title character in "Nowhere Boy," a biopic about the early life of John Lennon.
