"This American Life" headed to the big screen

Fans of "This American Life," a weekly on-air program produced by Chicago Radio, will be elated to learn that a segment from the beloved show is coming to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marcus Hinchey is penning a screenplay adapted from "Heretics," an episode of the series. The news source reports that "the script will recount the true story of Carlton Pearson, a rising star in the evangelical movement who was ostracized by his own church and declared a heretic after he started preaching that there is no Hell." The film is set to be produced by Endgame Entertainment, along with Ira Glass, the writer, host and producer of "This American Life." This isn't the first time a radio show has inspired a major motion picture. In fact, one of the most notable examples of such an adaptation is the widely-acclaimed "A Prairie Home Companion."
