Richard Dreyfuss will join cast of "Weeds"

"Weeds," the popular Showtime series, has featured many respected actors since it began its run. However, it looks like an Oscar winner will be joining the cast for the show's sixth season. According to the New York Times, Richard Dreyfuss is set to play a character whom Nancy Botwin, the show's leading lady, knows from her past. Other guest stars this season will include Jennifer Jason Leigh, Alanis Morissette and Linda Hamilton. While Dreyfuss is bound to put on a terrific performance on the hit series, the 62-year-old is best known for his work on the silver screen. In fact, some of his more memorable roles include Matt Hooper in "Jaws" and Glenn Holland in "Mr. Holland's Opus." However, Dreyfuss' most noteworthy movie was perhaps the 1978 comedy-romance "The Goodbye Girl," in which he played Elliot Garfield. Dreyfus went on to win the Academy Award for Best Actor, and the film was nominated for another four Oscars that year.
