Print this article Just as expected, vampire fans have been longing for a taste of the latest chapter in the "Twilight" series.
According to Variety, "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," which is being released nationwide today, has already sold more than $30 million in ticket sales. The movie is now the highest-grossing film for a midnight showing.
While movie insiders predict that the third installment in the series will perform outstandingly, the last two films took in huge numbers as well. In fact, the debut chapter, "Twilight" garnered more than $392 million in ticket sales worldwide, while its follow-up, "New Moon," grossed more than $700 million around the globe.
The news source reports that the latest adventures of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) is already making waves in other nations - there were midnight screenings of the teen action-romance in Brazil and Mexico.
The next chapter of the series, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn," is due in theaters November 18, 2011.
