Academy Award-winning actor Christopher Plummer stars in "The Last Station"

Count Leo Tolstoy was a celebrated author and one of the most important figures of the 19th century, so it's no wonder that a film has been made to pay homage to the man. "The Last Station," which stars the esteemed Christopher Plummer as the famous novelist, is being released on DVD June 22. The film follows Tolstoy during the last few years of his life. He is married to Sofya (Helen Mirren) and the devoted couple lives together on a beautiful, sprawling estate. However, it was during this time that the Russian writer began to show an intense passion for his religious and ideological beliefs. He is soon joined by Vladimir Chertkov (Paul Giamatti), a devoted follower, and Valentin Bulgakov (James McAvoy), who became his secretary. Plummer was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance as Tolstoy, but the revered actor has appeared in many other notable films. He garnered a number of accolades for his portrayal of Mike Wallace in "The Insider," and most recently he voiced the character Charles Muntz, the adorable senior citizen, in the Pixar film "Up."
