Print this article Amanda Bynes may only be 24 years old, but the young actress has allegedly quit showbiz for good.
The former star of the WB series "What I Like About You," in which she costarred with Jennie Garth, recently took to her Twitter account to announce her retirement.
"Being an actress isn't as fun as it may seem. If I don't love something anymore, I stop doing it. I don't love acting anymore, so I've stopped doing it."
Fans of Bynes were surprised and despondent to hear the news. Home audiences have loved her since she first appeared on the public radar in the Nickelodeon's comedy series "All That," and many moviegoers have adored her comedic prowess in the films "She's the Man" and "Hairspray."
However, the performer might have hinted that she may be leaning toward a screenwriting career.
"I've never written the movies [and] TV shows I've been a part of. I've only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play," she wrote on the social networking site.
