"Fright Night" nabs David Tennant and Christopher Mintz-Plasse

Christopher Mintz-Plasse is on a roll. Fresh after starring in the hit superhero movie "Kick-Ass" and only three years after making his cinematic debut in "Superbad," the young actor has been tapped to lead the remake of the 1985 vampire film "Fright Night." According to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog, Mintz-Plasse is set to play Charley Brewster, a teen who is certain that his neighbor, Jerry Dandridge (Colin Farrell), is a vampire. Charley tries to convince his mom Judy (Toni Collette) about the monster, but she soon falls under his spell. Also joining the cast is David Tennant, who is best known for his work on "Dr. Who." The British actor will take on the role of Peter Vincent, the host of a late-night horror show. The original "Fright Night" was a huge success when it was first released. The film, which starred Chris Sarandon as Jerry and Dorothy Fielding as Judy, was the second-highest grossing horror movie that year, coming in right behind "A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge."
