Denzel Washington is a delight in "The Book of Eli"

Denzel Washington makes his mark in a daring new role in "The Book of Eli," a thrilling action film that will be available for home audiences June 15. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, Washington stars as Eli, a man who possesses a sacred text that can preserve humankind. Determined to save the world, he ventures across the devastated, war-torn wasteland. Once he reaches the west coast, Eli settles in a small town. It's there that he meets Claudia (Jennifer Beals), who is blind, and her daughter, Solara (Mila Kunis). Eli also has a run-in with the town bully, Carnegie (Gary Oldman). It looks like Washington enjoys playing both sinners and saints in his action films. The versatile actor also starred in the remake of "The Taking of Pelham 123" as the supposedly sweet MTA employee Walter Garber, and he wooed audiences with his portrayal of real life crime boss Frank Lucas in "American Gangster." Washington will next appear on the big screen in the action-thriller "Unstoppable," where he will play a good guy.
