Print this article "Alice in Wonderland" was a hit among moviegoers, and is bound to be the same for home audiences. The film, which featured another pairing of director Tim Burton and the legendary Johnny Depp, will finally be released on DVD June 1.
The film retells the classic Lewis Carroll tale with a twist of Tim Burton style. It centers on 19-year-old Alice (Mia Wasikowska), who travels around Underland and meets a number of wacky characters, such as the Cheshire Cat (Stephen Fry) and the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter).
Along the way she also runs into the Mad Hatter (Depp), a strange but interesting man who eventually saves her from being captured.
This isn't the first time Depp and Burton have collaborated on a film. The two eccentric artists worked together on several products including "Edward Scissorhands," and "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."
Depp's next film, the adventure-drama "The Rum Diary," is due in theaters this year.
