Viggo Mortensen is brilliant in "The Road," a drama which is due to be released on DVD on May 25. The film is based on the classic novel of the same name by Cormac McCarthy.

The story centers on two unnamed characters, The Father (Mortensen) and The Son (Kodi Smit-McPhee). The pair are traveling against a devastating landscape in a post-apocalyptic world.

The two venture across the terrain, encountering disturbing images of death and destruction while trying their best to survive.

While moviegoers may not be familiar with McCarthy, audiences will remember, "No Country for Old Men," which was also based his novel of the same name. The film version, which was directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture.

Mortensen won critical acclaim for his performances in "Eastern Promises" as well as "A History of Violence." His next film, "A Dangerous Method," is due to be released in theaters next year.ADNFCR-2673-ID-19794004-ADNFCR
