The 63rd Cannes Film Festival opens with the screening of "Robin Hood"

The 63rd annual Cannes Film Festival opened this week, and it looks like the festivities started with a bang. Stars lined the red carpet for a screening of "Robin Hood," which stars Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. "Robin Hood" tells the story of Robin Longstride, an archer in the army of Richard Coeur de Lion during 13th century England. When Richard dies, Robin leads his group of men to a corrupt village and tries to fight against the crown. There, he falls for the beautiful Marion Loxley (Blanchett). The epic movie is directed by Ridley Scott, who also paired with Crowe on the action hit "Gladiator." The film ended up winning five Oscars that year, including Best Picture. Russell Crowe was most recently seen in the drama "State of Play," which also starred Rachel McAdams and Ben Affleck, as well as "American Gangster," alongside Denzel Washington. Crowe's upcoming film "The Next Three Days," will be in theaters this November.
