Matt Damon is at his best in "Invictus"

"Invictus," the Academy Award-nominated drama directed by Clint Eastwood, will be out on DVD on May 18. The autobiographical film is based on events that took place during the Rugby World Cup in 1995. The story begins as Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) is released from prison and is elected President of South Africa. As he works to put an end to apartheid, he sets his sights on the Springboks, the nation's rugby team, to convey his message of peace. Mandela soon meets with François Pienaar (Matt Damon), the squad's captain, to discuss his plans. As the Springboks train for the upcoming World Cup, they slowly get the support of the non-white citizens. The unity of the fans becomes symbolic of a new phase for the politically-unstable country. It looks like "Invictus" was perfectly casted, as both Damon and Freeman garnered acting nominations for their performances in the film. And while Eastwood was left without a nomination, the legendary director still has several statuettes to his credit.
