"Edge of Darkness" is a thrilling Mel Gibson film

Mel Gibson stars in "Edge of Darkness," which will be released on DVD on May 11. The thriller marks the first feature-length film in which Gibson has starred in seven years. Gibson plays Thomas Craven, a Boston homicide detective. The story begins when Thomas' 24-year-old daughter, Emma, is murdered before his eyes. Craven is determined to find the killer and avenge his little girl's death. However, as he digs deeper into the case, he discovers a network of government conspiracy and corruption. "Edge of Darkness" also stars Ray Winstone as Darius Jedburgh, a CIA officer, and Shawn Roberts as David Burnham, Emma's boyfriend. Gibson took a break between acting gigs, as the most recent projects the actor appeared in were the 2003 musical"The Singing Detective" and the M. Night Shyamalan thriller "Signs," which was released in 2002. The veteran actor is also known for his directing skills. Gibson helmed the 2006 action film "Apocalypto" as well as the 1995 classic drama "Braveheart." The latter won the Academy Award for Best Picture of the year.
