"Anchorman 2" currently in limbo

"Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" may have been a huge hit, but it looks like the studio that produced it may not want to continue the franchise. According to Variety, Paramount has passed on producing a sequel. "So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried," Adam McKay, the original film's director, said in a Twitter post. This news may come as a surprise to fans of the movie, as it took in over $90 million at the box office when it was released. It also spawned a straight-to-DVD film called "Wake Up, Ron Burgundy: The Lost Movie," which was comprised of outtakes from the previous film. Will Ferrell is hardly short for work. The funnyman has two comedies coming out this year, "The Other Guys" and "Megamind." However, the former Saturday Night Live cast member will get serious in the drama "Everything Must Go," which is due in theaters in 2011.
