Print this article "A Nightmare on Elm Street" hits theaters today, and it's projected to be a hit. The slasher film is a reboot of the 80s film of the same name.
Starring Jackie Earle Haley as the cringe-worthy monster Freddy Krueger, the story focuses on a group of teenagers who are haunted by the scary figure. Once they go to sleep, they are in danger of being killed.
Haley has experienced a rebirth of his career in the past few years. The actor was famous as a child for his iconic roles in "The Bad News Bears" and "Breaking Away."
However, it was only until recently that the talented actor was seen in the spotlight again. He was nominated for an Oscar for his work in "Little Children," and he most recently appeared in the Martin Scorsese thriller "Shutter Island" and in the film "The Watchmen," where he played Rorschach.
The original "A Nightmare on Elm Street" was directed by horror legend Wes Craven who also helmed the "Scream" movies.
