Print this article Shakespeare's "Hamlet" may be centuries old, but the newest film version is bound to please modern audiences. The intense BBC drama will be released on DVD on May 4.
David Tennant stars as, Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark. The young, tormented boy is looking to avenge the murder of his father, and get even with his uncle Claudius (Patrick Stewart). Along the way, he also struggles with his sanity.
Other talented actors cast in the film include Mariah Gale as Ophelia and Penny Downie as Gertrude.
Fans of Stewart will certainly recognize him from "Star Trek: The Next Generation," in which he played Captain Jean-Luc Picard. However, the aged actor has been busy with other projects recently.
In fact, Stewart appeared in all "X-Men" films as the character Professor Charles Xavier, and has voiced a number of episodes of "American Dad!"
The revered thespian will be appearing next in the fantasy film "Gnomeo and Juliet," along with Emily Blunt and James McAvoy.
