Peter Hedges' new novel "The Heights" was released just last month, but it looks like the book is a hit. The tome is already set to be developed into a feature-length film.

Variety reports that Focus Features has acquired the rights to take the enthralling tale to the silver screen.

"I'm thrilled to be working with Peter again. He is a filmmaker of great warmth and humor, and with 'The Heights' we will be taking full advantage of his considerable skills," John Lyons, a producer for the studio, told the news source.

The novel centers on a rich couple who live in an affluent section of Brooklyn. However, when a gorgeous woman moves in next door, the couple begins to question their own happiness.

The book marks Hedges' first novel in over a decade. However, the talented writer has been hard at work in the film industry - he has penned the scripts for the Katie Holmes drama "Pieces of April" as well as the Steve Carell romantic comedy "What's Eating Gilbert Grape?"ADNFCR-2673-ID-19706666-ADNFCR
