"Paranormal Activity 2" to compete with "Saw VII"

Fans of the horror genre will have a tough decision to make. It has been confirmed that the widely-anticipated sequel to "Paranormal Activity" and the seventh film of the "Saw" franchise will be released on the same day. "Paranormal Activity 2" and "Saw VII" are both due in theaters this year on Friday, October 22. Considering the two films are likely to be audience favorites, it will be interesting to see which of the spooky movies will be the box office champ. "Paranormal Activity" was a surprise smash when it was released last year. The entire film was shot with one camera and made for just $15,000. The original "Saw" movie also had a modest budget by Hollywood standards - the film cost $1.2 million to make. It was recently announced that Kip Williams, who helmed the 2004 drama "The Door in the Floor," will be directing "Paranormal Activity 2." "Kip is the guy we want at the helm, because he knows exactly what we want to deliver to the fans," Oren Peli, writer and director of "Paranormal Activity," wrote on the film's website.
