"Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" will be released on DVD March 30

Good news for fans of the cartoon "Alvin and the Chipmunks" - the second installment of the film franchise will be released on DVD March 30. Appropriately titled "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel," the animated and live-action movie is sure to be enjoyed by both children and their parents. Starring Jason Lee as Dave, "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" continues the adventures of the three adorable rodent brothers. The film follows Alvin (Justin Long), Simon (Matthew Gray Gubler) and Theodore (Jesse McCartney) as they put their pop career on hold when Dave winds up in the hospital. After returning to school, the three boys decide to enter a battle of the bands contest. However, The Chipmunks face some serious competition when another singing group, called The Chipettes, joins the contest. With band members Brittany (Christina Applegate), Jeanette (Anna Faris) and Eleanor (Amy Poehler), The Chipettes are also vying for the $25,000 prize money. "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" was directed by Betty Thomas. The talented woman may have a knack for turning simple children's films into a success - she also helmed the hit "Doctor Dolittle."
