Fans of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Raise the Red Lantern" will love "Red Cliff." The Chinese war drama was directed by legendary Hollywood filmmaker John Woo.

The film takes place in third century China and is based on the true tale of the Battle of Red Cliffs. It follows Prime Minister Cao Cao (Fengyi Zhang), a ruthless leader who invades the land of Wu with his powerful army.

The story picks up as the ruler of Wu, Sun Quan (Chen Chang), turns to war strategist Zhou Yu (Tony Leung), who realizes that the Cao Cao army is not used to battling at sea. An epic attack ensues, leaving almost 2,000 ships burned.

Woo, a longtime director who has helmed action greats such as "Face/Off" and "Mission: Impossible II," received much critical praised for this film. In fact, "Red Cliff" garnered six nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards, and won five of them.

Leung is a five-time Hong Kong Film Award-winning actor and is known in the Chinese press as "Little Tony."ADNFCR-2673-ID-19685480-ADNFCR
