"Scream 4" will be released in theaters in 2011

A decade after the release of the horror hit "Scream 3," Dimension Films has green-lighted a fourth installment of the scary saga. According to Variety, veteran horror director Wes Craven, who helmed the previous three films, will return to his position as director. Also Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott), Courteney Cox Arquette (Gale Weathers) and David Arquette (Deputy Dwight "Dewey" Riley), each of whom appeared in "Scream,""Scream 2" and "Scream 3," will reprise the roles they made famous. The news that the popular series will continue on the silver screen may not come as a surprise for movie industry insiders. In fact, each of the previous films grossed over $160 million worldwide at the box office. While the plot of "Scream 4" is being kept secret, there are rumors that the iconic face mask will be returning. "Scream has been such an integral part of Dimension's history, and I look forward to continuing the franchise," Bob Weinstein of Dimension Films told the news provider.
