"High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens stars in "Bandslam"

Moviegoers who adore Disney musicals will take delight in "Bandslam," which will be released on DVD March 16. The fun family comedy stars Vanessa Hudgens, who played Gabriella Montez in the "High School Musical" films. Gaelan Connell stars as Will, a young teen who moves to New Jersey with his mom Karen (Lisa Kudrow). Will is an outcast, but soon befriends strange chick Sa5m (Vanessa Hudgens), a girl who insists the "5" in her name is silent. Life picks up for Will after Charlotte (Alyson Michalka) recruits him to compete in Bandslam, the school's version of Battle of the Bands. Will, Charlotte and Sa5m join forces and embark on a quest to take down Charlotte's ex-boyfriend Ben Wheatly (Scott Porter). Ben's band, Glory Dogs, is aiming to win Bandslam. Hudgens, who catapulted to fame with the "High School Musical" movies, seems to be enjoying success even without former-costar Zac Efron by her side (on-screen, at least). The talented actress will soon be appearing in the horror film "Beastly," due for release July 30. Featured Titles: High School Musical Encore Edition DVD $10.99
