Will the Oscars, which air this Sunday, turn out to be a battle of the exes? Both James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow are nominated for the Best Director Award, and thier films are also competing for Best Picture.

The former husband and wife are being hailed for two very different pieces of work. Cameron's "Avatar," the most expensive film ever made, features state-of-the-art CGI and scenes that took millions to produce. igelow's "The Hurt Locker" is a low-budget independent creation that only cost $11 million to produce.

Cameron, who won the coveted statue in 1997 for "Titanic," seems to be a good sport about the awkward situation. "I have already got an Oscar. I’ve got a couple of them…. I don’t really need another one," he recently told Charlie Rose.

Bigelow is favored by many to take home the prize. If she does, it would make the books - no woman has ever won Best Director in the history of the Academy Awards.
