(We do not collect these names or emails!)The long-talked about remake of "Arthur" finally has someone to sit in the director's chair. Jason Winer, who is best known for his work on the new ABC comedy "Modern Family," has been given the coveted job.
According to MTV.com, Winer will be directing British funnyman Russell Brand as the title character. He will play Arthur, a womanizing boozehound who is set to inherit his family's fortune.
The original 1981 film, which starred Dudley Moore in a career-defining role, went on to win two Academy Awards.
Rumor has it that the remake will stay true to the original. The story follows Arthur, who is being forced by his family to marry a stuffy socialite in order to collect the money. However, when he instead falls for a simple, working-class woman he must choose between money and love.
Brand first won over audiences with his turn as the cheeky British rock star Aldous Snow in the recent comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." He also hosted the MTV Video Music Awards in 2008 and 2009.
Brand has reprised his roles as Aldous Snow in the upcoming film "Get Him to the Greek"
