"District 9" is a science fiction thriller directed by Neill Blomkamp and produced by Peter Jackson, who helmed the Academy Award-Winning "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.

The film, which was adopted from a short film titled "Alive in Joburg," centers on a group of sick aliens, which fall to earth in 1982, who the U.S. government eventually confines to a slum in Johannesburg, South Africa.

In 2010, military forces are ordered to relocate the alien population and begin serving eviction notices. However, when a field operative, Wikus Van De Merwe (Sharlto Copley) accidentally comes in contact with alien DNA, he begins to become one of them.

The change in his DNA allows him to use the aliens' weapons, and scientist plan to vivisect him to study his new genetic makeup. However, Van De Merwe escapes and his actions eventually set off a chain of events that might alter the future of the planet.

Fans of other films that consider the existence of aliens, such as "Cloverfield" or "Avatar" are sure to enjoy "District 9."ADNFCR-2673-ID-19613252-ADNFCR
