"The Blind Side" nominated for Best Picture

"The Blind Side" is the touching, true story of football-player Michael Oher's rise to success. The film follows Leigh Anne Tuohy (Sandra Bullock), a white southern woman who sees a young black man, Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) walking on the side of the road on a cold November night. Concerned for his safety, Tuohy invites Oher into her home. She and her family eventually come to love the troubled youth, and choose to adopt him. As they struggle to help Oher begin a new life, the Tuohys realize that he has amazing athletic abilities and encourage him to play on the high school's football team. The rest is history, as Oher went on to play college football for the University of Mississippi and was picked in the first round of the 2009 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens. Bullock has been nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award for her role in the film. Fans of other inspiring sports movies, like "Rudy" or "Miracle," will appreciate "The Blind Side."
