(We do not collect these names or emails!)"The Extra Man" is a quirky and moving comedy based on the novel of the same name written by Jonathan Ames.
The story follows failed playwright Henry (Kevin Kline), who develops a relationship with the aspiring young writer Louis (Paul Dano), to whom he sublets a room in his New York City apartment.
To support his writing career, Henry has often taken on the role of the extra man, a gentleman escort who earns money by accompanying rich older women to social events. When he takes a shine to Louis, Henry begins to instruct him in both writing and the art of being a male escort.
Dano has appeared in a string of critically acclaimed films, from "Little Miss Sunshine" to "There Will Be Blood," and the talented young actor can certainly hold his own against the perennially-charming Kline.
Fans of other unique comedies about writers, such as "Wonder Boys" will be sure to like "The Extra Man."
