"Avatar" takes home top honors at the Golden Globes Awards

This weekend the Golden Globe Awards drew plenty of stars and spectators, and moviegoers tuned in to see which of their favorites would earn one of the coveted golden statuettes. Some of the notable wins included "The Hangover," which was awarded best motion picture comedy, and "Avatar" beat out titles like "Inglourious Basterds" and "The Hurt Locker" for best motion picture. The film also garnered James Cameron a best director award. Robert Downey Jr took home the honors for best actor for his work as detective Sherlock Holmes. Meryl Streep's portrayal of Julia Child in "Julie & Julia" even beat out her performance as Jane in "It's Complicated," for which she was also nominated. The popular new show "Glee" won out over "Modern Family" for best comedy series and the critically acclaimed "Mad Men" took home best TV drama.
