Lewis Carroll’s classic children's story, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," has won the hearts of many young readers over the years and has even achieved a cult-like status.

"Alice" fans were already excited by Tim Burton's upcoming film adaptation, but a longer trailer for the film, which was released yesterday, has Wonderland-aficionados pretty worked up.

The trailer focused on Alice, played by Mia Wasikowska, and the Mad Hatter, who is being portrayed with a gleeful abandon by Johnny Depp. It revealed a murky, atmospheric Wonderland populated by quirky creatures and an evil queen, played by a CGI-altered version of Helena Bonham Carter.

Disney's first pass at the story, 1951's "Alice in Wonderland" was a playful animated film that delighted children and adults alike. The cartoon follows young Alice as she falls down the rabbit hole and journeys through the mystical Wonderland.

Burton's film picks up when Alice is a discontented young woman about to become engaged to a man who she doesn’t love. However, all of the characters whom she encountered on her first journey still remember her and convince Alice to lead them in their fight against the oppressive queen.

Fans of Burton's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" will be sure to enjoy this re-imagining of "Alice in Wonderland."ADNFCR-2673-ID-19519674-ADNFCR
