"Up in the Air" was a hit with critics and moviegoers alike, and it seems that the Golden Globes enjoyed the film as well.

The film garnered six nominations: best drama, best director (Jason Reitman), best actor (George Clooney), best screenplay, and two nominations for best supporting actress – both Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick were nominated for their performances in the lauded film.

Meryl Streep was nominated (no surprise) twice for best actress, once for her performance as Julia Child in "Julie & Julia," and again for her role in "It's Complicated." Sandra Bullock also scored two best actress nominations, for "The Blind Side" and "The Proposal."

In the category of best drama, the films that made the cut include James Cameron’s science fiction epic "Avatar," the war drama "The Hurt Locker," Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds," the raw drama "Precious" and the animated feature "Up."

One surprise came from the "The Hangover" being nominated in the category of best comedy or musical. Traditionally such ribald comedies are not usually singled out by the Golden Globes.ADNFCR-2673-ID-19517130-ADNFCR
