Fans of "Volver" will love "Broken Embraces"

The unstoppable Spanish duo, Penelope Cruz and Pedro Almodovar team up again for "Broken Embraces." Cruz appeared in Amoldovar's 2006 critically-acclaimed film "Volver," which followed the story of Raimunda (Cruz), a widow who hides the dead body of her lecherous husband in a freezer after their daughter kills him in self-defense. Raimunda starts her own catering company in an abandoned restaurant, with the help of her daughter. Considering the circumstances, things are going remarkably well until the ghost of their dead mother visits Raimunda's sister Sole, and the sisters are forced to confront their family's sordid past. "Broken Embraces" boasts all of the trademarks of an Amoldovar film, from a beautiful leading lady to breathtaking cinematography. The film stars Lluis Homar as Henry Caine, a blind writer with a complicated past. Lluis used to be a famous filmmaker in the '90s, but he was forced to give up his career when he lost his sight. A series of flashbacks reveal the writer's former life in show biz and the details of his relationship with a former secretary (Cruz). Cruz will also be appearing alongside Daniel Day-Lewis and Nicole Kidman in the musical film "Nine," which is slated to be released on December 25.
