Family Video to sponsor Movie Review Contest

If you think you have what it takes to deliver engaging and informed movie reviews while in front of the camera, this could be your big break. Family Video, a premiere DVD and video game retailer, is sponsoring their first Movie Review Contest. Contestants can show off their on-camera chops and will have the opportunity to win big prizes. Just send in a video of yourself oozing charisma and talking about one of your favorite movies. It is a contest, so here's the catch - whether it's a timeless cinematic masterpiece or an edgy new art-house film, you have to make the judges trust your opinion of the film that you choose to review. Prizes will be awarded based on the value of the review, your ability to keep the audience interested and the creativity of your delivery. Fifteen of the strongest entries will be submitted to a panel of movie industry professionals. The critic with the best review will receive a grand prize of $1,000. Second- and third-place prizes will also be awarded. Video entries will be accepted from November 13 to January 10. Judges include actor William H. Macy, a three-time Golden Globe nominee who has won two Emmy Awards and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Macy has recently appeared in films such as "Wild Hogs" and "The Maiden Heist." Other judges on the panel are Tricia O'Kelley, who appears on the CBS sitcom "The New Adventures of Old Christine" and the movie "Weather Girl," Emmy Award-winning PBS producer David Miller, "Movie Mom," internet reviewer Nell Minnow, and WGN-TV movie critic Dean Richards. Young movie buffs can feel free to get involved, too. Minors under the age of 18 are welcome to participate in the contest as long as they have parental approval. Each video must be no longer than three minutes and should not include any inappropriate content. Family Video requests that contestants do not use last names in their reviews to protect contestants' privacy. Copyrighted material, such as movie trailers, is permissible, but contestants should note that if there is a complaint the submission may be removed. Good Luck!
